Conjunctivitis is simply inflammation of the conjunctiva of the eye, which is a very common eye problem seen in cats, dogs and horses.
Conjunctivitis may be due to viral or bacterial infections (more common in cats) or allergy, environmental irritations and low tear production being more common in dogs.
Patients often present with a mucky / sticky eye discharge often with some minor discomfort. Depending on the causes, treatments may range from simple bathing of the eyes, to life long topical therapy. |
